Getting in to you all a day earlier than usual with tomorrow being our Staff Only Day <\/strong>and school is closed for instruction. <\/strong>We appreciate your support in advance giving us this day together as a whole staff to engage in a day of learning around supporting the needs of our tamariki. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Sunday, we were incredibly proud of our Year 3-6 r\u014dp\u016b (group) for their outstanding performance at the Wh\u0101nau Success Day<\/strong> at West End School. They represented us with mana (pride), turning heads and drawing such high praise from the crowd, that people were heard asking, “Wow, what school is that?!” A video of their bracket can be found here<\/a> if you want to check it out. Thank you to the wh\u0101nau who brought their kids down and watched them. We received beautiful words from their tumuaki as he sent us the following message: \u201cKia Ora Turitea Wh\u0101nau, What a pleasure to host your amazing kura. Your tamariki were truly impressive, not only on the stage, but off it as well. Your values of Whanaungatanga, M\u0101tauranga, Manaakitanga and Kaitiakitanga were clearly evident. Today was a good day. Ng\u0101 mihi nui koutou.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned last week, our Top 5 Cross Country runners from each year group have been chosen to represent our school at the Cluster Event<\/strong> which is next Thursday 4th June. Our Year 5\/6 runners can also take part in the Palmerston North Interschool Event <\/strong>next Friday 5th June. All the details for this can be found in the Hero Events<\/strong> tab if your child was selected. Please can you respond with the permissions etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, we had 22 tamariki take part in the annual Tough Guy and Gal Challenge<\/strong> at Massey University. The weather was outstanding and it made for a fab day of fun in the mud. Mihi atu (Thank you) to all the parents and wh\u0101nau who came to support them. Check on the quick reel of the day here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hui \u0100 Kura: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our assembly this afternoon was hosted by our tuakana (seniors) Rory, Kyerin, and Ihaia.<\/strong> We love a full house, so thanks to those who came along to tautoko (support). We loved hearing from T\u014dtara and P\u014dhutukawa as they shared their recent learning. To top it off, we whakanui (celebrated) the students who were on the podium for Cross Country last week, and also those who consistently display our uara (values) A huge congratulations to those who earned their tiwhikete (certificate)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PTA Pool Party:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next Saturday 6th June <\/strong>from 6-8pm our Turitea Wh\u0101nau (including younger or older siblings) are all invited to the mid-winter Pool Party at the Lido. This is a fun event to bring everyone together, connect with others and build that community feel. Please let us know via the short Hero survey (if you haven\u2019t already) if you plan on attending so we can stock up on drinks and sausages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameron Back:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week we welcome Cameron back to school. We know he has appreciated the time at home to settle into life with a beautiful small human in the mix. We thank Carwyn<\/strong> for the time and effort he has put into the \u0101konga in P\u014dhutukawa over the past three weeks. We know they have loved having you and we have enjoyed the positive vibes you have brought to our kura. We hope to get him back in again soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ng\u0101 Whakanui \u0100konga (Student Celebrations):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, the \u0101konga (learners) in R\u0101t\u0101 were doing some writing about their recent Cross Country running. I was lucky to have Reggie, Anya, Carter and Ava <\/strong>come and share this with me, as you can see above. Look how proud of this they are. Ka rawe koutou (Awesome job everyone) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School Murals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know we revealed our Year 6 leavers mural last term, but I finally got around to adding a page to our school website celebrating this special tradition that we have at Turitea. Have a look here<\/a> if you are interested in the p\u016brakau (story) behind each of them, as it is a whole lot more than \u2018paint on a wall.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
